This pay-per-view marked the first time in four years that the Carny had been given the prominence it deserves. The tournament was the most enjoyable since 2000, and the production at the new Yoyogi Gym is tremendous - but still the critics disapproved. Short of digging up Giant Baba and putting him back in charge, there isn't much All Japan can do to please the press these days. This was All Japan's last ever show at Budokan Hall - the group is moving to a 'cosier' venue on the other side of Tokyo. The group certainly left the building with a bang, delivering the long-awaited clash of Kawada and Hashimoto, a fine junior title match, the return of Tenryu (who's everywhere at the moment), and Keiji Muto tagging with superstar Bob Sapp (who's even more everywhere than Tenryu is). Great card. The unquestionable highlight of this tour was Toshiaki Kawada's Triple Crown defence against Genichiro Tenryu. Thanks to an influx of 'talent' from the Stamford, CT unemployment office (Jamal, Bull Buchanan etc), AJPW's reputation for tremendous, hard-hitting main events was under threat; Kawada and Tenryu did much to restore it with a quite brilliant old-school slugfest.
